The opening round of the 2026 WEC season has been postponed
It wasn’t entirely unexpected, but the 2026 WEC season-opener at Qatar has officially been postponed.
Over the last few days, a war has broken out involving Iran, and other countries in the middle east have been caught up in the conflict.
Qatar is one of those countries and at the weekend it temporarily put a ban on any sporting events taking place in the country.
Naturally, safety is of the highest paramount to the WEC and at the weekend it issued a statement to say that it was closely monitoring the situation, but with there being no sign of the conflict easing in the short term, on Tuesday 3rd March, the WEC released a statement confirming that the Qatar 1812km has been postponed.
And in our latest video, we explore what that means for this year's championship
