Quinn to make WEC Hypercar debut at Barcelona

He will take Stoffel Vandoorne's seat at Peugeot for the final two rounds

Alex Quinn will make his World Endurance Championship Hypercar class debut at Barcelona this weekend for Peugeot.

Quinn has been operating as Peugeot’s reserve driver for the 2026 season and the team has already confirmed that he will drive for the team full-time next season.

But with Stoffel Vandoorne vacating the team after the last round at the 6 Hours of Fuji, Peugeot has now confirmed that Quinn will take his seat in the No.93 Peugeot 9X8 for the final two rounds.

Speaking about the announcement Peugeot’s team principal Emmanuel Esnault said: “While focusing on the two-part finale to this season, we are also preparing for the future, so bringing Alex Quinn into the #93 line-up was an obvious decision.

“Knowing that he will be one of our drivers from 2027 onwards, all the experience he can gain in Barcelona and Monza will be very valuable for the future.”

Quinn added that he’s hoping this will allow him to get fully up to speed with how the team undertakes race weekends, so there’s less to learn at the start of next season.

”I’m really excited to get on track at Barcelona,” said Quinn. “I already feel at home with the Peugeot team, but the aim will be to get settled into the race program as streamlined as possible.

“It’ll be a proud moment of my career, so I want to do a good job for the team but also enjoy it along the way!”

Although this will be Quinn’s debut in the Hypercar class of the WEC, it won’t be his first appearance in the championship this year.

That’s because he contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca 07-Gibson, a race which ended up with him winning the LMP2 Pro-Am class.

He’s also enjoyed a successful season in North America, winning the LMP2 class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, in what has been a very strong year for the 25-year-old.

How well Quinn gets on in the 9X8 remains to be seen. But having two races to get bedded in before a full campaign next year is the perfect way for him to get acclimatised to the category.
