Aston Martin and Ferrari trade blows in Barcelona free practice
The Aston Martin was fastest in FP2 on Friday
Aston Martin topped the timesheets at the end of FP2 ahead of the 6 Hours of Barcelona.
The No.007 car of Tom Gamble set a fastest time of 1m 31.712 seconds, enough to pip the No.17 Genesis driven by Pipo Derani.
Ferrari took top honours in FP1 with the No.83 AF Corse car.
Although unable to repeat the feat in FP2, Robert Kubica ended the session 0.086s behind the pace-setting Aston Martin and just eight milliseconds clear of the No.12 Cadillac.
Mike Conway in the No.7 Toyota took fifth, less than a tenth clear of the No.38 Cadillac driven by the outbound Sebastien Bourdais.
After setting some impressive times in FP1, the No.50 Ferrari had to settle for seventh in FP2, ahead of the No.15 BMW, No.009 Aston Martin (which ended the first session second) and the No.94 Peugeot.
Antonio Giovinazzi's best efforts in the No.51 Ferrari were good enough for 12th ahead of the No.19 Genesis and No.20 BMW, while both Alpines had an anonymous run to 15th and 16th ahead of the No.93 Peugeot.
Garage59 took top honours in LMGT3, with Finn Gehritz in the No.58 car setting a time over three tenths quicker than second-place Esteban Masson in the No. 78 Lexus.
