Ferrari drivers dispute 6 Hours of Imola favourite status
Ferrari's drivers don't believe they are the favourites to win the 2026 6 Hours of Imola
Despite topping the timesheet in practice for the season-opening round of the 2026 World Endurance Championship at Imola, Ferrari’s drivers don’t believe they are the favourites to win the 6 Hours of Imola.
Ever since the teams descended onto the iconic circuit Ferrari has set a blistering pace, one nobody else seems to be able to match.
All three cars topped the Prologue test on Tuesday and in Friday’s first practice session all three cars were at the top of the timesheet once again, with the privateer #83 AF Corse car leading the way.
But speaking ahead of that first practice session, Miguel Molina explained that he felt other manufacturers were yet to show their true hand and that the competitive order could be very different come race day.

“It’s very important the track position, especially here”, explained Molina. “I think we have a good car to be there. [But] It will not be so easy because I think we are not the favourites.
“There’s still some manufacturers where I think they will be very strong. But I mean, here in Imola it’s very important to start from the front rows.”
Molina refused to be drawn into stating what manufacturers he thinks are currently ahead of Ferrari. But when asked how he can believe he’s not the favourite given the performance of the 499Ps on track, he said, “because we have the data, we have everything, and we can see that there are other manufacturers where they really look very strong but they are not showing.”
Alessandro Pier Guidi also agreed with his team-mate, but does believe that Ferrari can still be in the hunt for the win on Sunday.

“Yeah, on the single lap was really good, but not everyone did a quali simulation”, Pier Gudi explained.
“And in terms of race pace many of our competitors are much closer or at least the same level of us, some even a bit quicker.
“Some were trying to use less energy per lap. So I think Ferrari will be able to fight for the victory, but I wouldn’t say we are the favourites to be honest.”
